PERSONAL NOTES FROM LONDON. London, October C. Mr. and Mrs. Swnnn, of Riincimnn (Auckland), have gone to Mcthlcy. Miss A. Roskruge (Auckland) is staying at 21 Hazlewell Koad, Putney, S.W. Miss R. M. Scholeficld (Wellington) is now at 88 Gleneldon Road, Streathain, S.W. Jlr. and M"rs. I'. Addison Pudney, of Cliristchnrch, aro at 89 Linden Gardens, Bayswator, W. Mrs. Bert l{oylo and Miss Boyle, who returned from tho New I'orest last , week, aro staying at Porchcster Hotel, 2-t Porchester Gardens, W.

Captain Stuart-Burnett, Director of Military Operations and Intelligence for Now Zealand, 'expects to leave ior tho Dominion at an early date. Mrs. StuartBurnett will accompany her husband. Dr. William Brown and Mrs. Brown, formerly of Dunedin, and afterwards residont near Tauranga, are now returning to New Zealand by tho Arawa, after four and a half years' stay in Scotland. It is their intention to settle in tho North Island. . Hγ. Henry Green, of Auckland, ■ and Captain and Mrs. Pqlleson, of Timaru, were amongst tho visitors at tho Leicester "home-coming" festival last week. Mr. Green, left Leicester for New Zealand 50 years ago, but has paid periodic visits to tho town of his birth. Sir William Hall-Jones, High Commissioner for .New Zealand, is at present in Vienna at the Second International Cold Storage Congress. Tho congress opens to-day and finishes on'tho 12th instant. Mr. Alexander Crow, of Wellington, who has been on a holiday trip to tho Old Country, intends returning home by tho Mongolia, leaving London to-morrow. After his arrival here on April 11 Mr. Crow spent frre weeks in London, and then visited France, Ireland, and Scotand. Mr. S. Hetherington and the Misses Hetherington, of the Thames, have just returned to London from a trip through Ireland and Scotland. They intend to spend some time in this city, whero Mr. Hetherington is attending to business matters. They think of spending the winter in the South of France. Miss Whitolaw, of Auckland, who has succeeded Miss Dove' as headmistress of Wycombe Abbey School, has now entered upon her new duties. Miss Whitclaw was educated in her native city, later entering Girton College, Cambridge, ■whore, in 1897, she took the Mathematical Tripos with second-class honours. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kaye, of Christchurch, left England yesterday, via New York and Canada, 'on their way to New Zealand, where they expect to arriveearly in December. Mrs. Kayo, since her arrival in tho Old Country in Anvil, has attended the World's :Y.W.C.A. Confersince in Berlin and the World's Missionary Conference in Edinburgh. Mr; George Shalfoon, of tho Bay of Plenty, has. been his birthplace at Mount Lebanon, in Palestine, after an absence of 12 years, and is now in London. Ho spent a month in Palestine and a week in Paris, arriving in London on September 17. He leaves again to-day for Canada,' and is due in New Zealand, via Vancouver and Suva, on December 5. Mr. and Mrs.' S. L. Hirst and Miss J. Hirst, of Auckland, who have been touring in Scotland, the Midlands, and Devonshire, left London last week for a five weeks' tour on the Continent. They proposed joining the Orvioto at Naples on November 5. ... Mr. and Mrs. George Palmer have just returned from a trip through the West Indies and South America. Mr. Palmer has taken a shooting lodge. in Scotland, and' is now entertaining a large house party. ■ Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Maxwell, of Northcote (Auckland) havo arrived in London, after seeing something, of ' America and Canada. Mrs. Maxwell found .the heat too great in New York, and enmo to Liverpool five weeks ago, but her husband being detained on business, joined her afforwards in London. They are at present dividing their time between London and Buckinghamshire, where they havo relations. They will probably sail from Genoa for Now Zealand early in November. ; Mr. and Mrs. D. Haynes, of Dunedin, their _ daughter, Mrs. Mill, and her son are visiting London at. present. They arrived here in June, and spent some time in : Scotland, Mr. Haynes remaining in London on business. Mrs. Mill took a motoring tour through the Southern and Midland counties with her sister, Mrs. J. Ballantyne, of Christchurch, and party. They leave portly for New York, anil, after spending a month in America and Canada, sail for New. Zealand from Vancouver. Mr. and Mrs. J. Ballantyne, of Christchurch, and their daughters are now in London. Mrs. Bnlhntyno ■ . and family motored from-Edinburgh and the Troseachs down the coast to London, afterwards visiting the Midland- and Southern counties. They have also visited Holland, Germany, and the Brussels Exhibition, returning to London- via Paris. They leave shortly for New York,, and will, spend a month in America, sailing for New Zealand from Vancouver by the Makura. ' ....
