ME. W. HENRY'S VISIT TO NAPIER,
Napier, November 14. T-tV Henry, secretary of the Eoyal Life-Saving Society, England, was accorded a civic reception at Napier to-day, and during the afternoon addressed a 'large number of school children at the Municipal Baths. He also presented medallions and certificates to a number of can- ! didates who had been successful in competitions. In the course of his remarks Mr. Henry said that the life-Baving classes were evidently splendidly trained and the best that he had handled in the. colonies. In the evening a great gala and swimming sports were held in Mr. , Henry's honour at which he gave a , marvellous exhibition of trick and fancy swimming. He leaves for Wellington; by the express to-morrow evening.
AGENTS: A WORD FROM THE BENCH.
Chrisichurch, November It In the course of a judgment oh a claim for commission arising out of an exchange of properties, Mr. Bailey, S.M., said that the general trend of the law was to discourage persons from acting as agents to' both parties to a transaction, and au agent could not receive commission .from both parties. In the case of an exchange' a person might claim to be agent for two vendors, but there would'be conflict-' ing interests, and the principle must be maintained that an agent could not act for both parties, without the fullest dis-. closure and consent of the parties. The onus lay on the agent of proving such disclosure -and consent.

Prebendary Stuart opened the Anglican mission services' here on Sunday. -In the evening he addressed a large public meeting in the Opera House, and left a favourable - impression on the minds of his hearers. Hailstones, half an , , inch in diameter, fell, and the ground-was white for:a. few minutes., A similar snowstorm had a disasfrora effect on fruit and gardens. This storm exceeded tea minutes in duration.- - . ■ -
