COLOURS FOR SHOW RING RIDERS.
MASTERTON'S PROPOSAL. The Masterton A. and P. Association recently decided to require liders in the jumping events .at its nest .show to wear colours. At 'a meeting of the. General Committeo of the Association on Saturday, Mr. C. 1\ Vallanco moved, in accordance with notico given, that the resolution requiring those competing in leaping and jumping events to wear colours or hunting costume be rescinded. Mr. Vallance ;aid lie had heard that if the resolution ivas enforced, it might prevent horses from competing. Mr. Pilmcr' seconded the resolution. Mr. 0. C. Cooper, as mover of the original resolution, moved as an amendment :hat the resolution in, regard to colours be not enforced until next year.. Mr. W. H. Buick seconded the amendment. • Mr. Vallance said he was entirely opposed to the rule in regard to colours. In Australia it had been found that the :hanging of colours caused great delay. Mr. Cooper stated that he had been at Australian shows, and found the wearing if colours a.great attraction and he had ioticed no serious delays. Mr. Strang thought that the wearing of :olours was a step in the right direction. 'The president was of opinion that it vould be a mistake to compel the wearing )f colours. They should endeavour to get riders to corno voluntarily in colours. After further discussion the amendment )f Mr. Cooper was lost, and the resolu:ion of Mr. Vallanco declared carried.
