John Marratt, who had pleaded guilty earlier in the. week to a charge of vagrancy was brought up for sentence. Accused had both legs amputated some time ago, and walks with difficulty on two artificial limbs. On Saturday.Sub-Inspec-tor Norwood stated that inquiries had been made as to/whether Marratt could be admitted to the Ohiro. Home, and the authorities had expressed their willingn «ss to take him. The magistrate ordered him to come up for sentence when called upon, on condition that ho entered the Ohiro Home and remained there for a period of one yeaj. Andrew Scott, who had been found sleeping out in the vicinity of Oriental Bay in the small hours of Saturday morning, was charged with being an idle and disorderly person. He was suffering from weak legs, and was remanded until November 15 for medical attention. Violet Campbell, for breach of a prohibition order, was fined 405., in default fourteen days' imprisonment. On a charge of drunkenness, the same accused was convicted and discharged. Three first offending inobriates were fined 55., with the alternative of twenty-four hours' imprisonment.
