ENTERTAINMENTS.
THEATRE ROYAL. Tho attractions at the Theatre Royal on Saturday evening were twofold—the presentation o£ prizes won at Mother Mary Aubert's garden fete and an excellent programme. A crowded honse warmly welcomed every item of a splendid ontertainment, and each of the artists was accorded a good reception. To-night there will be presented one of the finest entertainments ever shown at this popular, vaudeville house. All tho artists are new to frequenters of this theatre, and the programme will be a "change" in every detail. A new minstrel troupe will make their first appearance, with a budget o£ new songs, etc. Farrell and Galfney are comedians and dancers of no ordinary ability. Farrell is said to be tlie champion patter comedian of Australia. Mabel Lynne will also appear for the first time here, and is described as a piquant comedienne. The Kelly sisters are a dainty singing and dancing double, and will no doubt contribute largely to the success of the entertainment, while the ever-popular Harry Sadler has a number of new songs and a very amusing turn, "At the ball."
HIS MAJESTY'S. His Majesty's Theatre was well patronised at both performances on Saturday, the audiences on each occasion showing marked appreciation of the excellent programme presented. Tho various films, which cover a large field of interest, were heartily applauded, especially the pictures of "The Heart of the Sioux" and 'Toolshead as a Cashier." The same programme will .be shown to-night. KING'S THEATRE. Both performances at the King's Theatre on Saturday were largely attended. A picture of topical interest is a film showing the Melbourne Cup race, 1910. "Yachting in Sydney Harbour" is a very good picture, which is included in Pathe's Gazette. An excellent dramatic picture is a film entitled "The Usurer." The programme will be repeated this evening. .
STAR PICTURES. On Saturday evening St. Thomas's Hall was well filled, and the programme of the Star Piotures favourably received. For to-night a' change of films is billed. The new batch is said to consist of some thrilling dramatic stories as ;Well as some "scenic studies of high merit. Comic items will also have their usual place on tho programme. JOHNSON-JEFFRIES BATTLE. For the first time in Australasia, commencing at the Wellington Opera House on Thursday evening next, the Messrs. MacMahon, who have secured the sole Dominion rights, will present to local audiences the fight pictures of the John-son-Jeffries contest for the world's championship, which was decided at Reno last July. The film, measuring close on 7000 feet, is said to be crystal-lite in its clearness. The management announce that the first portion of the programme will consist of a charming series of the latest biograph surprises. The box plans open this morning at the Dresden.
PROFKSStOJML ORCHESTRA. The Town Hall was crowded in every part last evening, to hear the concert given by the Wellington Professional Orchestra. The programme contained a feast of good music, and tho audience appeared to be highly delighted with the entertainment," and insisted that several of the items should bo repeated. Selections by the orchestra included "Zampa" (Herold), "Threo Dances" (from Nell Gwvnne), "Rosamond" (Schubert), and "Valse des Flours". (Tschaikovsky). Tho applause was so continuous after "Threo Dances," that portion of the piece had to be replayed.; Mr. Harold Dakers, a young tenor, sang "Thora" and "The Last Watch," and received an encore in each instance. Mr. J. Vitetta's harp solo, "Danse de Selphes," was an excellent item, and ho was deservedly recalled.
