THEOSOPHICAL SOCIETY.
Mr. J. R. Thompson, organiser of the Theosophical Society, gavo an interesting lecture last evening at the society's rooms, Ballanco Street, the subject being "Life After Death." Mr. Hardie Shaw presided, and there were about 70 members present. The speaker dwelt upon the advance of the science of clairvoyance, and the belief in a life after death. This life, ho stated, was only a preparation for a future existence, and death but the gate leading to life that would be of-a higher or lower order, according to the purity of this life. Mr. Thompson then went on to describe the different planes ,of future existence where there was no such thing as going back. In conclusion, he urged upon members of tho society to live upright and pure lives. They were now making and shaping their future environment, as their desires were in this life, so would they bo in the next. Prolonged applause greeted the speaker upon resuming his seat, and a hearty vote of thanks was proposed and carried.
