—4 . IBy Telegraph.—Press Araociatlon.l Christchurch, November B.r • A young man named William Henry Edwards, residing in Ward Street, Addington, attempted to commit suicide this morning. It appears that Edwards had become despondent consequent on his wife and'child having left-him, and he decided to end his misery by cutting his throat.. He sharpened a'large kniV,' but ultimately changed his mind, and prepared a solution of match-heads, which he drank. A neighbour found him suffering from the effects of .this draught, and medical aid was procured. Edwards is to be charged with attempting to commit suicide.
