ORGANISING A Y.M.C.A. (By Telcgrapli.-Speci.al Correspondent.) Wanganui, November 8. Tho Wanganui Education Board last night received nine tenders for the erection of tho new Technical School, and set up a committee toV.interview the Minister to get his consent to the acceptance of a tender, and to submit .tho two lowest for his decision. The . Southern Cross Biscuit Company's new factory, to replace the ono recently destroyed by fire, is now almost completed. Manufacturing operations were resumed yesterday. A meeting was held hero last night at which it was decided to establish a Y.M.C.A. in Wanganui,- and a movement is now afoot for a canvass for funds. It was resolved also to ask Mr. H. N. Holmes/ secretary of tho Wellington Y.M.C.A., to visit AVanganui and give advice and assistance. Aim Ahu settlers aro happy. The Roads Department has agreed to allow the heavy wiro rope, which it was found impossible to put in place for their ferry ovor tho Wanganui River, to be replaced by a lighter one, and the ferry will be in working order in a, fow days' time. The■ Wanganui branch of tho Royal Life Saving Society,, at a meeting held last night, mado arrangements for the forthcoming visit of Mr, W. Henry,, organiser of tho society. The programmo will include lectures, talks to schools, and displays in the various swimming baths. Tho meeting also.set up a committee to raiso a guarantee for tho visit of the.Manly (N.S.W.) Surf.
