FEATHERSTON NOTES.
The sitting of the Magistrate's Court, held on. Monday before Mr. L. G. R«id, was of -a very protracted nature. The business is generally concluded in one hour, but Monday's sitting occupied six hours. The cases heard havo little interest outside local circles, but the first caso brought under the recent by-laws adopted by the Featherston Town Board might bo_ mentioned in that it may serve of interest to motor-car drivers who may visit this town. Tho charge was ono of driving a motor-car through the town 'at a greater speed than ten miles per hour, which is tho maximum speed allowed by the Town Board. The defendant was.convicted,..but as.it was tho first caso brought, no fine was inflicted, the defendant being mulcted in costs only. • ■ '.■■,■' Great preparations are on foot- to make the Horticultural and Industrial Show which is to be held in the Town Hall on Thursday, November 17. a success. These shows have always been very-popular in Featherston and'by all appearances,_ the present ono promises to excel all its predecessors. The Hon. Joan Dickson-Poyndir attended divine services at St. John's Church on Sunday morning.
