In connection : with the. Wellington Gas Co.'s sale of gas cookers, a public cooking demonstration will' be given at the Gas Company's offices this evening at 7 o'clock. : . Mr. J. R. Thomson, who is organising secretary to the New Zealand section of the' Theosophical Society, arrived in town by jast evening's Napier express. During his stay in Wellington, Mr. Thomson will deliver a course of lectures. Among the questions of which notice was given in the House of Representatives last night was one by Mr. Okey, M.P. for Tarauaki, who desires to know whether, in order to assist the oil industry in the Dominion, the Government will bring down legislation this session on the same lines as that introduced into .JJie Federal House of Representative*. ,
