ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
SUDDEN DEATH OF A CLERK. Henry D. Mataer, a married man, 52 years of age, residing at Karori* Boad, died suddenly while engaged at his occupation yesterday afternoon. Deceased was a clerk employed at the Post and .Telegraph Stores. He was sitting in his chair yesterday afternoon, and about 4 o'clock was noticed to. fall. Assistance was- at once rendered, but he died soon after. Dr. Begg was called in, but could only pronounce life extinct. For some time past, Mr. Mataer had suffered from heart trouble, and Dr. Begg, Who had previously attended him, has supplied a certificate as to the cause' of death. TRAGIC EVENT. (By Tolegraih.—Press Association.) . Eketahuna, November 7. Mrs. Stevens, of Greytown, aged 42 years, who had been staying with relatives at Eketahuna, hanged herself this morning in the scrub at the back of the house. When found she was quite dead. She had been brooding over the death of her husband, which took place in June last.
