BRITISH DICTATION ALLEGED,
By Teloeraph— Press Aseoriation-OopyriKhi (Rec. November 7,' 9.35 p.m.)
London, November 7. . According to to-day's "Manchester Guardian," Persia resents tlio continuous attempts by bn- Edward Grey, Secretary for Foreign Affairs, to prevent the raising of a Persian loan of .£1,200,000 through Messrs. Serigman, of Teheran.
Exception is also taken to Sir Edward Grey's further endeavour, for purely political reasons, to compel the issue of the loan through the Imperial Bank of Persia on terms which Persia regards as inconsistent with her poetical and financial independence. A SHEIKH CAPTURED. LOOT RESTORED. (Rec. Nov. 8, 1.10 a.m.) Teheran, November 7. . The British sloop Odin at Liugali captured the Sheikh of Mazkurs and three dhows with loot aboard. The loot was restored to its rightful owners in the raided villages. .A body of Baluchis is marching on Kerman. DISTRUST OF BRITAIN. "Since she has entered into agreement with Russia distrust of England has grown with marked rapidity in. the Jiast, so writes a Persian correspondent in a communication to the "Manchester Guardian" m September. He continues: in the Turkish and Persian press proofs are not wanted of this. The strain in the relations between the Indian Government and Afghanistan since the former's I? 6 » nc i e on tlle lattcr 's recognition of the Anglc-Eussian agreement is an open f C i- et- J hat this f « elin e wiu inf « ot th « Indian Mahometan (if it has not already clone so) there can bo no doubt. The only compensating advantage that the iMglish Government can set against this great loss of popularity and confidence among tho Mahometans, which will undoubtedly be of grave consequence to England m future, is the desert of Persian Baluchistan allotted as tho sphere of interest to her. Would that desert protect India should Enssia firmly establish herself in Persian Khuravanand tmd tho Mahometan on all sides ready to help her at tho cost of England. If Port Arthur could not protect Russian possessions in the Far East how can a desert protect India? Would Russia be content with Northern Persia without contemplating it as a stepping-stone for reaching the Persian Gull or approaching Baluchistan to hold India at her mercy? .Wβ Persians hope that England will awake, for her own benefit and that of Persia, to the danger of the blind policy winch is boing pursued in the Near East before it is too late."-
