SHOT BY HER HUSBAND.
MYSTERIOUS AFFAIR IN INGESTRE . • .STREET. On Friday morning last a man, named Mackintosh and his wife arrived in Wellington from -Melbourne by the Moeraki, and occupied rooms at Ross's Private Hotel in Ingestro Street. About 7 o'clock in the evening Mackintosh came downstairs and stated that he had accidentally shot his wife. Dr. Ewart was immediately sent for, and, after examination,' ordered her to bo removed to a private hospital for treatment. An operation was performed, and the bullet extracted from the back of the left shoulder. The injured woman is doing as well as might be expected. Further inquiries at the Police Inspector's office last evening showed that no further information which' would throw light on ,the circumstances surrounding the.affair was available.
