John Colgrovo Hayes, aged ' thirtyfour years, a labourer of Shannon and a married man with a family, was badly injured through a fall from a horso on Saturday, and lies in a precarious condition at a private hospital. He is suffering from a fracture of the base of the skull. This is the third case of similar injury atjPalmerston in three days. ■ STABLE HAND SERIOUSLY HURT. Napier, November 6. A man named Henry Radford 'was severely injured in M'Cormick's stables on Saturday afternoon. He was engaged in harnessing a young horse, which was just being broken in, when the animal lashed out with both hind heels, and caught Radford in the stomach. Ho was removed to the hospital, where he now lies in a condition 60 critical that he is not expected to live.

JOCKEY'HTJRT AT CHRISTCHURCH. Chrlstchurch, November 6. The jockey -Murtagh, rider of Xavier in the first race- yesterday, who sustained concussion of the brain consequent upon the horse-falling, was removed to the hospital, where he still remains unconscious, but is not considered to be in a dangerous condition.
