READY XO WELCOME THE BAND. (By Teleeraph— Special Correspondent.! Wanganui, November 5. Arrangements are almost completed for the welcome to tlio Garrison Band on their arrival from Ballarat on Tuesday night. They will be met at the railway station, and escorted through the town to the Drill Hall, where they will be briefly' and formally welcomed. On Thursday they will be entertained at a garden party on the racecourse, for which a special holiday will bo observed. Tramway returns for October are as follow:—Passengers carried, 115,745, an increase of 13,000 on the samo month last year; revenue, £801, as against £681 for the previous October. ' The Governor has presented a medal valued at five guineas for competition at the Caledonian Society's sports next January. Among other donors to the sports Is B. Cutts, of Aberdeen, Scotland, who sends a silver bowl.
