A GENERAL OVERHAUL. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright. (Rec, November 6,'5.5 p.m.) Lisbon, November 5. The new Republican Government proposes to wipe out a deficit of £650,000 by increasing the taxation on landed estates and buildings by from 5 to 12 millions. - ■ The cessation of the Civil List will save £100,000, which will be utilised in abolishing the town dues on meat and vegetables. The payment of arrears of taxes amounting to £270,000 will be enforced. The advances owing by, the Royal Family and Government officials are estimated at £1,900,000. After tho payment of the Royal debt, the revenue from the Royal properties will be handed to King Manuel.
