TOWN WIPED OUT.

TERRIFIC SURP IN ALASKA. By Telegraph—Press Association—OopyrieM. (Roc. November 6, 5.5 p.m.) Vancouver! November 5. • Solomon, a small settlement east of Nome, Alaska, has been wiped out by a terrific surf, which has been heating upon the coast unaccompanied by wind or rain. The flooding of Nome, previously reported, is inexplicable. It is now announced that there has been no storm there, but that schooners woro driven ashoro during an extraordinary tido rush. The disturbance is probably of volcanic origin. If icebergs are as far southward as usual they would be dashed against the buildings in the streets on the waterfront.
