WORKERS' COMPENSATION.

INTER-STATE RECIPROCATION. As the law stood up till a:few days ago the wife or those dependant on'a worker in .the Dominion who is killed in the course of his duties could not claim compensation under the Workers' Compensation. Act if she or they resided in some other State. According to the latest Gazette, however,' this is to be changed, arid a start. has already been made l)y establishing the reciprocal application" of the Workers' Compensation Act, 1908, to the United Kingdom, Queensland, and Western Australia. TheGazette notice says :— "Whereas by Section 53 of the Workers' Compensation Act, 1908, it is enacted, that where the Governor is satisfied, that by. the laws of any other country within the Dominions of the Crown compensation for accidents is payable to the relatives of a deceased worker, although they are , resident in New Zealand, he. may »by Order-in-Council declare that relatives residential in that country shall have the same rights and remedies under the Act as if resident in New Zealand.". .
