A BUSY DAY IN PARLIAMENT.
THE PROGRAMME TOE TO-DAY. NO BIG BILLS TILL TUESDAY. Complying with a promise • to 'intimate to the, House of Representatives what business was to be taken to-day, the Prime Minister informed the House last night that the approximate order paper would (1) Justices of the Peace Amendment Bui, 4 _ (2) Local Bodies' Loans Amendment Bjll. (3) National Provident Fund Bill (in Committee). ■ (4) Public Revenues Bill (in Committee). * (5) Companies Amendment Bill (in Committee). . . • ' (G) Hospital and Charitable Institutions Amendment Bill. '
(7) Education Amendment Bill. Mr. Massey said several Auckland members were anxious to get home this w.eekend, and he would be yery glad to know what business the Prime Minister proposed to take on Monday. Mr. T. E. Taylor (Christohurch North) remarked that a number of southern members would like to be in Christ church for Saturday and Monday, and they were anxious to know what wae proposed (or Monday. _ Voices: They want to go to the races. (Laughter.) ■. Tie Prime Minister said he himself would like to ie in Christchurch on Saturday and Monday very much, but he could not see the slightest chance of eefc ting there. .•■ , . • ' Sir Joseph went on to sav, in reply ta further questions, that the Licensing Bill, Gaming Bill, and . the Land. Bill would not come up for consideration before Tuesday, The Bills he had outlined* would keep the House busy on Friday and Monday. ' ■ ■ ' ■ .■■■;■>;■■ Mr. Massey asked 'if it were true that the Public Works Statement was goingto be laid on the table'to-day. The Premier; I said.Friday or Tuesday. Mr.. Massey then suggested to the Premier that he ought to move-the ad-journment-in view of the large amount qf business that had been dope that day. Mr, T. H. In reply to Mr, Newman, the Premier sa.id that the Committee stage in regard to the Loans to 'local Bodies Bill would be deferred till Tuesday. . . Th.e Premier: I am agreeable'that the' House should now adjourn. , I, too, think that we have done a very good day'e work. (Hear, hears.)
