WELL-KNOWN SCULPTOR. By Tokffraph—Press Association—Copyright. London, October 31. Mr. J. A. Acton, the sculptor, is dead. The deceased sculptor executed many busts of lioyal. personages and publio men. - He was born at Acton, Alidalesox, and after boing educated at Lady Bvron's oohool, Ealing, he became a pupil of Timothy Butler. Later he entered the Koyal Academy Schools, where he gained many distinctions, and was subsequently sent to Rome to study .under Gibson.
PROPRIETOR OF "PUNCH." ' London, October 31. The death is announced of Sir William Agnow.
Sir-William Agnew was chairman of Bradbury, Agnew and Company, printers, publishers, and proprietors of Punch." He was born in 1825, and was educated privately. In politics Sir Wil.iam Agnew was a Liberal, and sat m Parliament for Lancashire, 5.J3., • from • 1880, and-in 1885 he was elected for the Strctford Division of Lancashire. For many years the deceased gentleman was head of the firm of Thomas Agnew and Sons, publishers and art dealers, of London, Liverpool, and Manchester. He was given a baronetcy in 1895.
