IS THERE MONEY IN THE EEL?
ONE MAN HOPEFUL. <By Telegraph—Press Association.) Gore, November 1. It is stated on good- authority that steps are to be taken to form an eeling industry in New Zealand. A "Mataura Ensign" representative, in an interview* with Mr. William Bulmaan, from Denmark, who has for some weeks been investigating the possibilities which the _ Mataura River offers for such a project, received interesting information on the subject. Air. Buhmanu stated: "I have been in tho country for nearly three years, and in touch • with the; question of an eeling industry all the time. I consider that the industry would prove a commercial success, and my intention is to export eels in such large quantities that it must pay. The Continent of Europe is my working basis, and extensive contracts for importation, etc., are already fixed. Later,. local people will derive constant benefit from the industry."
