MOTOR-CAR ACCIDENT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Woodvillo, November 1. A rather serious accident occurred in the Mauawatu Gorge this afternoon v. iicn a went lijjht over and landed in the river. The name of the man in charge of the ear is Taylor and he is employed by Messrs. Barraud and Abraham, of Palmerston. He was taking the car from Carterton to Palmeraton. Something must have gone wrong with the steering gear for no effort had been made to negotiate the sharp corner and the car went over the bank, a sheer drop of nearly one hundred feet. Taylor managed to crawl on to the road where ho was fouid in a dazed condition, having severe wounds on, the forehead. The injured man was taken on to Palmerston. The car is now under water and tethered to the bank by a wire.
