FELL OVERBOARD. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) 1 Napier, October 31. John William Dephoif, a single, man need 31, employed on the trawler Muriel. fell overboard yesterday and was drowned. The body was recovered later.

FALL FROM A- BALCONY. Wairoa, October 31. A man named James Carney, also known as Koache, aged about GO, was found dead, with his neck broken, under a balcony of the old Mohaka Hotel, on Sunday morning. It is supposed that he had a fit of coughing nnd overbalanced. He was dressed in night attire. At tho inquest tho jury returned a verdict of accidental death.

FATAL FALL DOWN STEPS. Auckland, October 31. Mr. George Croft Huddleston, widely known in Auckland as Major Huddleston, mot with an unfortunate accident yesterday, which resulted in his death to-day. Deceased, who was 62 years of ago, was walking down the steps of his house, when ho slipped and fell, sustaining a severe injury to tho spine. He was removed to the hospital for treatment, but the spine being" practically broken nothing could bo done for tho sufferer, who passed away to-day.

CHRISTCHURCH FATALITY. Christchurch, October 31. An , inquest was held this afternoon concerning the death of John Alexander Gribbin, eighteen years of age, who received fatal injuries in Worcester Street yesterday through falling off his bicycle. A verdict of accidental death was returned.

DEATH AFTER EXERTION. - Dunedin, October 31. Edward Jennings, aged 7G, curator of the imiselim, died suddenly in a railway carriage this morning. -He had run for tho train, and the exertion apparently brought on heart failure. Deceased had a long career as taxidermist; and had served under Captain Hutton, Professor Parker, and Professor Bcnham.
