BUTTER-FAT COMRETITION.
A.HA}YERA.E"V:ENT. One of the most important classes scheduled for the Egmont Agricultural and "Pastoral f Association's ■'' spring show is that, relating to.Uhe butter-fat competition.. The association offers a first prize ;of, : £B Bs. (including New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency-Company's special £5 ss, carrying with it Mr. \V. D. Powdrell's special ot £3 35.), and a third award of £2 2s. 'Mr. T. E. Exley has donated a- gold medal to be presented to the first prizetaker. In awarding* the prizes the judges will compute the points as follow: One-tenth point for every lb. of uiilk in four days, and twenty-five points for 'every lb. of butter-fat produced. The cows are to be in possession of the association for nine days, the butter-fat test to be made on the last four days, when the milk will be weighed 'and samples taken of each milking and finally tested. Entries close on November 3, and cows are to- be delivered to' the association not later than November 14.
