A BLIND MAN AND HIS BOY.
A JUVENILE COURT CASE. ' (By Teleeraph.—Special CorresnonderrU •ii, , • ' Auckland, October 31. A bright-looking little boy of about 18 or 12.years was before Mr. E. C. Cutren, S.M., in. the Juvenile Court this morning on; a charge of having begged alms in Queen Street. The boy's father, a' blind man, who has been turning a hand organ in Queen Street for the past-fifteen years, appeared with the boy and ex-' plained that lie had had him there to help" after school hours. The boy had been to school, regularly enough,' for thero were certificates, and such were produced to prove it. "We don't object to these men and their alleged musical instruments as long as the people who have to_ listen to their noise all day long don't mind," said SubInspector Hendrey, by way of explaining why the prosecntion had been laid; "but we do object to little boys being kept out on the streets day after day being educated as professional beggars. They get cheeky, and presently we find them playing about at the entrance to theatres and other places of amusement, and after a while we find one of thera out in a petty theft." Tbe magistrate pointed out to the man, who by the way was healthy and well clad, the dangers to which he was exposI ing his boy. The man promised never to let him collect again, and he was ailowed to take him away. ,
