.. A 'special ':: meeting of the • ■ Rahui Cricket Club was held on Wednesday evening, Mr.J. D. Howell presiding. Speaking "generally on the,- unsatisfactory position of the finances : of the club, the chairman regretted that no balance-sheet was forthcoming. ' Practically'the only asset was the'"concrete oh the pitch," and nothing was known of the whereabouts :of the : material. After, an inspection of "the . several counts, it was estimated that , the, club, owed £20 Ss.After a, deal of .discussion of a free-and-«asy nature; it was. moved, that stringent action-' be taken relative to ascertaining the financial position of :the club. Others thought •that proceedings; should be; stayed' till 'the accounts,' etc., had beeir fully gone into. The. chairman remarked that tho club should reorganise, and this opinion was heartily .suportcd by all present. After further discussion, the chairman and' Mr. ■ H. Nicolson. were .appointed to -go into:.the -accounts- and report at the annual meeting on Monday night.

FEILDING.

Tho Apiti Tennis Club has elected the following officers for' the ensuing year : President, Mr. P., Heldt (re-electod) • vico-presidants, Messrs. Allwood, Matthews; Bloomeld, and Dr. Morrison;: captain, Mr. H. Bousfield;-vice-captain, Mr. F. Elliott; secretary and treasurer,' Mr. H. Beni)ott (re-elected); committee, Mosdames Gill, Bennett,-Allwood, Vaile, and Morrison, Misses Heldt, Cross, and Jamieson; auditor, Mr. It. Pratt (re-.' •elected). Some/sixty players , participated in the-..return card game on Thursday evening, tho teams being representatives of tho Government Service and the'Feilding Card Club. As in tho first instance, the town' proved their superiority, winning by 67 games' to 39.

There will be a choir of 100 voices to assist tho, Henry-Pottu Mission -in Feilding next month..

PAHIATUA,

A concert given by tho Dresden Piano Company in aid of tlio funds of tlio Pahiatua District High School in the Olympia Theatre on Wednesday proved a great success ( and as a result tho funds will boneht to tho extent of some £35. Tho programme, as arranged '.by Mr. J. Walls, was a very good ono.

A team of Pahiatua bowlers visited Palmerston North on Wednesday 1 and succeeded in annexing the Dixon . Challenge Cup from tho- holders (Palmerston North) after a good game, by tlireo points., This. is tho third attempt which the local team ' (Messrs. J. Hughes, W.' ltanson, _W. M'Bratney, and W. Wakeman,:skip) have made to capture tho cup. On this occasiou they wero successful. Other games . were played against teams representing Palmerston North and Dannevirke. On cach' occasion 'they 1 tied on tlio last head, and in each instance (oil an extrahead being played) only suffered defoat by ono point. ■ In addition to tlio cup tlio. winners received four gold badges.

A handicap roller-skating race for boys.,uiidcr ten.years of. age took place in the Drill Hall on Thursday, and resulted in an easy win for James Walsli (20 yards), Stanley Gillwood (scr.) being second, and Eric Drew (15 yards) third. The winner, who is only Ave years of age, .and who lias won several other races this season, covered tlio distance in lmin. _43sec., which, considering his age, is remarkably fast. The first prizo was donated by Mrs. David Crewe. Mr. T. P. Girdwood acted as judge, and Mr. Hewitt was timekeeper.'
