VETERANS AND THEIR PENSIONS
_Sir,-Ia reading .the result of tlio , Veterans petition regarding - Maori' war pension, which appeared : in your issue of this morning, and noticing the difference. .of .-opinion, as to whether the petition would have met with a better fate had it .been handed to the Leader of tho Opposition;.-, instead of-' the: Prime Minister, I coiild;.jiot help but sympathise with the Veterans in- their futile effort to get : their claim considered by Parliament. One thiii£; is certain,' and-that.is that if the petition had been handed to • the ■ Leader of tho Opposition ,ho . would undoubtedly nave seen that greater consideration was given to the matter,' and the result ar- : rived at would have been the decision of Parliament, and not the decision of the Cabinet. • Mr. ilassey's keen interest in the welfare of the Veterans -is <woll Known to many, and his persistency in a Cause- which' he- deeiiis'-'to• bo ; right is even better known. -V AH .the'-Veterans have .been .fighters in- their time, and -I would- strongly. advise them, to 'watch closely and ;6ee which party are most ready to-fight' their', battle's for 'them today.— lam,: otc., v SYMPATHISE!*..
