MOTHER AUBERT'S JUBILEE.
' THE STAGE TO ASSIST. On Saturday' next a grand. carnival is to be: held at Newtown'Park .to benefit the Rev.. Mother Aubert's Jubilee Fund, arid special efforts are being, made •to make it a great occasion.. We had.in Wellington recently ,an example, of praiseworthy eilort and generosity on. tho Part of members of a theatrical company. This is" being" emulated in. the' present connection "-by the Plimmer-Dcriniston Company,r now playing at the Opera House. When .playing in the north, Messrs. Plimmer and Denniston were communicated'with by the Jubilee Committee through the . secretary (Sir. Amodeo), who ,proposed that'the company should givo a matinee performance during the season in aid of the fund. With ready willingness the management acceded, and. named Saturday noxt as tte only convenient day on. 1 which such a performance could be given. This wai found to.be.out of the question, owing to the. fete at the. Park on the samo day.' Still, it ,is pleasing to record that the lady members of the company, including Miss Lizette Parkes • and Mrs. Robert Brough, will officiate at some - ; of : : the, sweet and afternoon tea'' stalls. The presence of these, popular members of the theatrical profession is auro to add great-' ly, to the interest in the carnival. One of the big' attractions will be a beauty show, and it is already rumoured that there will bo several candidates for the honour .of being elected the prettiest girl in Wellington. The. baby show should attract a bevy of fond mothers. A- team from the Wellington Physical Training School is also to ,give a disnlay, . in addition to which there will be a full programme of sports!
