HIS MAJESTY'S VETERANS

NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION.

The annual meeting o£ delegates from the affiliated branches cf the Royal Now Zealand Association of His Majesty's Veterans wns held at the Town Hall yesterday. • Colonel Stuart Newall, C.8., life vice-president of tho association, was in tho chair, and there were present the following delegates:—Captain 11. C. namertou and Captain T. Humphries (Taranaki); Mr. H. Walton (Masterlon); Messrs. H. Stephens, R. Tingey (Wellington); Major Lomax (Wanganui); and the secretary an:l treasurer, Mr. S.-Stid-jOlph. Absent delegates were tho Hon. Captain Tucker, M.L.C. (Gisborne), and Sergeant-Major W. Christie (Masterton). The Dunedin Association was not represented.

The annual report included an interesting review of the principal events of the year "in which the association had been represented, special reference being made to the conspicuous honour which had been conferred upon the veterans on tho occasion of tho visit to Wellington of Field-Marshal Lord Kitchener in February last. Tho highest officer in the honorary list of the association having become vacant by the demise of his ■Majesty King Edward VII, his Excel-, loncy tho Governor had been asked to convey to King George V the association's request that his Majesty should accept the office of patroii of the New Zealand Association. Reports from the various branches showed that in Wellington, Gisborne, Wauganui, Masterton, Dunedin, and Taramiki, matters were in a satisfactory condition, and . assistance had beon given to veterans on; various occasions. Efforts wero now being made to establish a branch association at Palmerston North. In the absence of any communication from Westport in. answer to correspondence asking for information, it had been concluded that the branch' there had ceased to exist. Riigret -was expressed that the vice-president, Mr. T. ■Urwin, and Captain Huvsthouse (lately representatives of-the Taranaki branch) were unable through illness to be present at tho annual meeting..
