GARRISON RIFLE ASSOCIATION.

■ The second annual report of the Wellington Garrison Rifle Association, to to presented at the annual, meeting of the association at' the Garrison Hall tomorrow evening, states that during he past year several new features were introduced into the work of the association, chief amongst which were the Boys' Bisley, tho Young Soldiers' challenge cup competition, the rifle match between the Auckland and Wellington Garrison officers, and the expansion of the annhal rifle meeting into a two days' meeting. The Boys' Bisley, as an initial effort, was a decided. success, due almost en- . tirely to the efforts of Major llatheson and Captain Cowles, upon whose shoulders the whole of the work in connection with the meeting fell. The association had the sympathy of the majority of tho teachers, and consequently the entries were very encouraging—l7B ' boys competing for prizes aggregating ,£l9. • j Tho hopo is also expressed, in the re-' port, that the inter-district officers' match, inaugurated last season, will become an annual and' representative fixture. . "The finances of tho association are not in a very flourishing condition," states .the committee, "and it will bo the duty of tho incoming committee to devise some more permanent source of income than at present obtains. The coinmitteo have ©very rpason to feel disappointed at. the poor response of tho public to their appeal for subscriptions. They had hoped ' that tho Addition of. the Boys' Bisley to the prograriimo for tho year would have induced the public to support tho association more liberally. The entertainment which was held in the Town Hall Concert Chamber in aid of the funds of tho association resulted in a net profit of .£l2 13s. The thanks of the association are duo to the sub-commitee who carried out all the arrangements in connection with the entertainment, and especially to Lieut. Wilkinson. I
