As one enthusiastic A. and P. man put it, it was "a blessing to tho district, but a nuisance to the society." The first 'shower, fell at about five o'clock, but it was not till well on in-the morningythat it was' 'obvious; that it was going to be a thoroughly - inclement day. By afternoon, rain was ' falling ,so heavily, and so steadily, that tho ring competitions were put off until "to-morrow as. it was considered too risky to proceed with them. '• - Messrs., Nelson Bros, won the Douglas Cup for most points in Southdowns, and also the Quibell Cup for most points in any sheep section with 37 points 111 South..downsj in which Slack Bros, were second with 35 points in English ■ Leicesters.
