THE NEW SOLDIERING.
FIRST CAMP OF ,ITS-KIND. (By Telegraph-Special Corrcapohdent.) ' ' Auckland, October 21. The first Territorial training camp in the Dominion will ba commenced tomorrow when the first battalion, Auckland infantry, entrain for Papatoetoe for the purpose of undergoing a full week's course of training under the. new regulations. It has been the custom in tho past, when annual training camps wore held, for the men to leave camp after breakfast for the purpose of proceeding to work, and .returning again after the day's work to tho camp for tho evening's drill. This system had great disadvantages. In the first place tho men wero roused from sleep so much earlier than their usual timo that they were not fit for tho morning .drill', while in tho evening they returned from work too tired to take an enthusiastic interest in their training. In this instance the men go in and stay in camp for a week, and are paid tho regulation wage for the period. A ready responso has'boen made by employers, and it is anticipated that over 300 (out of a possiblo 400 men) will take part. i. ■ .
