WAIHOANGA SCHOOL.
Sir,—Might I be permitted to draw attention through your columns to-, the scandalous treatment parents of , children here are receiving at the hands of the Education Board. Some sixteen months 'ago tenders were accepted for ;the building of a school here, the site for .same having been generously given by Sir. D. Mills. In all three tenders were at various periods accepted, the last signed and finally accepted by the board is certainly of a most unbusinesslike nature, for it would seem that the contractor is permitted to complete private work he had in band fiist while the Children are allowed to go nogleoted. Owing to the want of school requirements, the parents of ten children have left this district as there was no sign of the much-talked-of -school becoming a reality.. There are plenty of builders at present who could start and finish the school without other work' to interfere. Town schools are well looked after, but the poor children of the backblocks can remain neglected so .far as the Education Board is conccrned. Just fancy tenders accepted some fifteen months ago for a small country school, and not a nail driven as yet. 0 temporal 0 mores! I am, etc., . WANDERER. October 17, 1910.
