THE COUNCIL'S DECISION. \

After consideration' of :the report presented by Mr. A. J, Clark, on the methods and efficiency of the borough staff, the Lower Hutt; Borough Council have decided to reinstate the staff in their former positions, with one exception. Besides this the librarian (Miss Welch) will, in future, have charge of certain clerical work, for which an

increase of £20 lias been ' granted. The borough engineer, Mr. Roachcyhas been instructed to report at a meeting of the council, on November 14, on , the employees outside tho office staff. ;
