MARMOSETS AND THE BAB?.
According to the Rev. J. ' Crewes, president of the Wellington Zoological Society, the tiny marmosets who are tenants of the Newtown "Zoo" live in a state of ideal communism that extends oven to the most intimate, dotails of family life. A few months ago the little marmoset community, which originally contained four adult members, was increased by the arrival of & "baby." The youngster was carried by its mother in a peculiar fashion, around her neck. She was not saddled witi) the whole labour of carrying the baby, however. Marmoset jpero took his fair share of the work. The division of la-, bour did not stop even here. As the - "baby" increased in weight and became a heavy burden to its little parents they were readily accorded assistance by the two remaining adult members of the community. Mr. Crewes states that they' carried marmoset junior in five* minute spells, turn about.
