WELLINGTON CLUB,
The annual meeting of tho Wellington Cycling Club was held on Friday night, Dr. Izard (president) in the chair. The report, which was adopted, showed "he membership to be 191. The balance; 1 of aiisets over liabilities is set down at ,£!i22; The election of office-bearers resulted 1 as follows: —President, Dr. Izard (re-elect-ed) ; vice-presidents, Messrs. A. Laurenson, J. Murphy, 0. Ross, H. G. Smith (all re-elected); committee, Messrs. 11. Ballinger, C. Bush, J. Doyle, W. A. Fordham, F. M. B. Fisher, I'. Morrison, G. Lauchlan, J. Weston, A. Robertson; auditors, Messrs. W. Chegwidden, D. Brand; secretary, Mr. .C. K. Duncan; treasurer, Mr. H. Thomas. Mr. H, Thomas did not seek re-election as secretary. Several. members spoke ill appreciative terms of his work, and ho wan elected a life member.. ,'l LEAGUE OP NEW ZEALANi) WHEELMEN. ■ The first annual meeting of the Wellington Centre of the- - New Zealand: League of Wheelmen is to be held on Wednesday evening next, when tho bal-auce-shcet and report will- bo placed before members. The election of officers will also take place. The centre was only formed-last May, and has had an uphill: fight to further tho sport of cycling in' the Wellington district. The 1 , balance-: sheet shows a credit of .£1 Hs. lOd,, which looks well on the working for such a short period. During' the past month there have been no fewer , than - two new. clubs affiliated to the centre, viz. Britannia Cycle Club, of Gisborae, and tho New Zealand Axemen's, Association of Eltham (Tarans.ki). The Permits Committee of the centre met last-Friday evening to discuss the application for'permits from the Labour Day Sports Committee to have their , cycle events run under tho league rules. After- considering the matter it was decided to grant a special permit to such body on condition that all" riders were registered before competing. There was also an application from the Port Nicholson Cycle Club to combine amateur and professional riders in club events. It was decided that a permit should be granted such club. \ "
