ANOTHER STRIKE. BRASS CHECKS AND TIME-CARDS. By Telegraph-Press Association-Copyright London, September 21. Fifteen hundred employees of' tie Palmer's Shipbuilding and Iron Company, Limited, Yarrow, Newcastle-on-Tyne, have struck against the introduction of brass checks and time cards instead of time boards.
THE BOILERMAKERS. A CONDITIONAL OFFER. ■London, September 21. ■ The boilermakers' delegates to the conference at Edinburgh have been empowered to- ofl'er . the assurances demanded by the employers, provided employers will undertake to settle all future disputes within a week.. CONFERENCE FALLS. TO 'AGREE. (Eec. September 22, 9.50 p.m.) ' London, September 22.. The conference in connection-with the boilermakers' trouble, under the chairmanship of, Messrs. Ness and Henderson (the boilermakers' delegates), demanded that the; lock-out notice be withdrawn prior to the commencement of negotiations. ■ Mr. Henderson, on behalf of the masters, replied that . the Boilermakers' Society must state what assurances it proposed to give that the .trade agreement would be better observed in the future. The delegates refused to agree to this, and retired, and spent the rest of,the day in discussion amongst themselves. Six permanent officials favoured making definite proposals, ■ but .thirty-five delegates, representing various' districts, remained obstinate, and eventually drafted memorandum. - The conference resumes its sittings to-da/. . BILBAO STRIKE ENDED. ■ . Madrid, September 21. The strike,-of. miners and dockers at Bilbao, Northern Spain, which has existed for several weeks, has'l ended.
