MISSIONS TO SEAMEN.
PRESENTATIONS TO MR. AND MRS. V MOORE. 1 •The annual social of the Missions, to Seamen Workers was held last ] evening in the:institute, which was tastefully decorated; The toasts honoured included "The King," "Parliament" (proposed by Mr. Balcombe Brown and responded to by Mr. Poole, M.P.); "Missions ,to Seamen" (proposed. by Mr. J. S. Cunimings and spoken to by Mr. Moore); "Mrs. Williams," tho honor, of the : mission building (proposed by Captain Balding); "Press," by 'Mr.' Warren; ."The Workers," by Mr. Gardner; "Ladies,"' by Mr. Wright; and "The Visitors," by Mr. Harrison. Musical items Were contributed by Madame Mueller, Miss Mueller, and Messrs.. Oakey and Gardner. Mr. J. S. Cummings, on behalf of the friends and workers of tho mission, took the opportunity of presenting Mr. Moore with a beautiful dressing-case, and Mrs. Moore was the recipient of a handsome gold brooch from Miss Dement,. on behalf of the workers. Mr. Cummings spoke ,in eulogistic terms of the, good work done for the sailors by Mr. and ■■Mrs. Moore during tho twelve years they have been in Wellington. He expressed tho wish that as the work at the • mission was necessarily growing with the increase of tho number of ships, visiting this port, the workers should do all, in their power to assist the'niissioner and his wuo in their self-sacrificing labours. Mr. Moore feelingly responded on behalf of Mrs. Moore and himself.
