PARAPARAUMU. , On Friday evening a concert was given here in aid of the local Catholic Church and the popular verdict was that it was the best ever given here. ' To Miss Katie Lynch the chief credit is due. The proceedings, opened'with an overture "Autumn," by the Paraparaurim.orchestra (Miss Katie Lynch, piano, Messrs.' Whit ing, Vaughan, and Short, : violins,-, and Rainsford, J cello). • Miv H. .Lynch sang "Rings on her.Fingers", in"ai pleasing manner, and 'received an encore! " The Tahiwi. Bros, made a hit. Vith the. singing- of "Sunbeam," giving, in response to. a recall, a Maori ballad.. Mr. M'Bain gave "Mbna." Mrs.'' D'Ath, who pos-. sesses a good stage manner,, sang "Damon." The gem: of the evening was "For You Little Sweetheart," sung by Miss Katie Lynch who, in answer to' recalls gave' "Terence's Farewell."' Mrs. Woodward gave "April Morn," and Mr. .Austin contributed a comic . reading. Songs', were • also' given ■by Mr. and Miss Ross, Mrs. Farr, Mr. Lanchester," Mr. Johnson, and Mr. Donovan. A lengthy programme'was brought to a conclusion by., the ;orchestra : playing the National Anthem. Mr. M. Lynch acted.as director for the concert... .
