Deceased came to Wanganui from Lowestoft, about twenty years ago, and, after acting as manager for* various landholders, took iip a farm at Ngama'tapouri,, where he resided for the. past six.years. The local branch of the Royal Life-. S. -Wilson, pastor of Ingestre Street Baptist Church, who has been in indifferent health for some time; has announced his intention of resigning his charge at the end of the summer/in order to try a change of climate. He lately received a call to an important 'church in South Australia, but declined, feeling that his health was unequal to. the heavy work-which : the change would involve..,'.-.: The Wanganui Chamber of Commerce is arranging to', celebrate its silver jubilee by a banquet on Monday week, to which the Premier and Ministers will be invited. There was only a scanty attendance of ratepayers at the statutory .meeting.held last evening, Mii connection with the .E6OOO loan for drainage and other works' on St. John's. Hill. , - After the 'Mayor had outlined the proposals, a resolution, approving same, was passed. The meeting .'also'discussed an extension of the tramways to.
