LODGE MEETINGS.
Court Sir George. Grey held its . fortnightly meeting on Wednesday, Bro.' 1 P. Roberts, ; C.R., presiding ■over a fairly largo number, of ' members. Five. new. members were initiated by the C.R., and three, more :were .proposed. Five :members declared" on'tho" sick-funds' of the court, and seven went- off the funds./ The sum of was paid ■to sick members during ■ the-last fortnight. A letter was receiv,eS : from the district secretary- intimating that the district officers would pay. the court a visit' on October 11, when a full attendance. of members is expected..-' At. Monday night's meeting of tho Pacific- Lodge,: No. 8, U.A.0.'D.,. Bro. A-: H. Cooper, A.D., presided over .a' large attendance'' of members. . Four candidates for membership were initiated, and live proposed., The sum."of-.£16 10s. was passed ior payment as sick pay., A hearty ; wclcomo. was-extended -to Bro. Jones, a recent arrival from, England, "and several other , visitors from various lodges in- the district.
The Pioneer Lodge, No. ,11, 1.0. G.T., hVld its weekly session on Monday evening, in the Rechabite Chambers, Manners Street, Bro'. Robert Eeid, • C.T., presiding over a fair attendance of members and visitors from England. Four new. members were initiated. ' Invitations were received and accepted from tho Hope ' of Petone and Star of Johnsonville 'Lodges, also to the Dominion No-License Demonstration in. the Town Hall on Wednesday. Officers* of the lodge were deputed to represent the lodge at tho demonstration, Votes of . condolence wero passed to tho relatives of . the late Sisters Henry and Mrs. Pepper, After business the 'remainder of the evening was spent' with a. "question box," when many interesting subjects were dealt witli.. A musical item was given by Bro.'Wilson. A vote of thanks to the visitors was carried by acclamation. The Hope of Pctono and Star of Johnsonville Lodges have been invited to: the next meeting.
