It is a well-known fact that this > companv exists solely in the interests of the residents of Kona and Day's Bays. Dividends' are unheard of. The one object of the company is to ensure resi--' dents reaohing-Wellington in ample timo for toil, viz., 9.45 a.m. : To enable thisto be done, the company have provided : first-class boats of the Pilot- .- type. This ; (Wednesday) morning we were landed " on the Ferry Wharf at tho early hour; of ' 9.35. On Monday morning the Cobar ; :waa > more successful, and arrived at 9.30. The .■ Duchess has been superannuated, but is occasionally called into service to act as a benefactress to stray barques in Cook ; Strait. ' Of course, the Harbour Ferries cater; only for' those ' people, commencing - toil at 8 a.m. and '1U ' a.m., there being . comparatively few residents in the bays," •commencing work at 9 a.m. - These can without any difficulty catch the .7 a.m. boat, and thus be in' Wellington in time to commence duty at 9 a.m. I feel lam voicing, the opinions of the; majority - of ; the Bay residents when : I endorse ; the now time-table arrangements; and . I trust the Company will . see . its . way " clear X to , continue running tho.-- Pilot to arrive at 9.45 a.m. lam confident this . arrangement would be pleasing' both to 1 employer and employee
