A' CREDITABLE VICTORY. (By. Telegraph.—Press. Association.) ; : •Invercargill, September.l 4. The representative hockey .match, Southland v.; Canterbury, resulted ■ in a win for. the visitors:by 5 gonls to i. Canterbury showed very clever stick work, and was the heavier team, and on the whole the: faster, though their combination was not so good. Within a quarter of an hour of the call of time tho score stood at i to 2 in favour: of: Southland, but • tbe fQrwardi then wore
down the opposing defence, and rattled up three goals .in a; most dashing manner. The' game was extremely fast, though the ground was somewhat heavy after the recent rain. The victory was an exceedingly creditable one, as Southland has-never been, seen-to-better advantage during the present season.
