.At a meeting of the Wellington Post and, Telegraph officers on Thursday, it was'decided to enter, a ' senior and junior team to compete in the Wednesday cricket competition. Officers elected were: Patron, Sir Joseph Ward; president, Mr. D. Robertson; vice-presidents, all heads of departments; captain, Mr. C:_ A. Wyatt; vice-captain, Mr. F. Plimmer; secretary and treasurer, "Mr. A. E. ' Corbett; committee, Messrs. M'Kay, Knapp, Hollis, and Moffatt; delegates to union, Messrs. M'Kay, Corbett,- and Moffatt.: ' ■ Ym.O.A. CLUB. . The T.M.C.A.- Club held their anniial; meeting in the Association rooms last evening., There was a good attend-, aiice of members, ;'] and thirteen -newmembers were . elected. Tho : following officers ; woro-elected:—President, Mr. J. 6. WV Aitken; vice-presidents, Messrs; J. Reed,- J. Heaton Barker, N. Thornton, H. N. Holmes, W. T.' Williams, Dr. Elliott,'C. R. Smith, and J. C. Port; hon. '.sees., Messrs.;. W. Hughes, and T. Philipson; hon. treasurer, ■-,- Mr. A.. Edwards; management: committee, Messrs.. 0. Murphy, . W. Reed, H...sl'Girr,.and officers; -■> 'The annual report stated, inter alia: "Sines'the.commencement.of the club, : this season was' probably; the' most enjoyable which we havo experienced. Our junior team were runnors-up, only losing the championship .by one point. This team played eight league matches, winning seven and losing one by-four wickets. Matches.were played against the. Porirua Mental Hospital and Karon, the club. having runaway victories in' ; each case. Negotiations were held, witli ; the Auckland.Y.M.C.A. regarding a. match : to. take place at Christmas, but fell through owing, to several Auck« landers, hot 'being .able ;to obtain the necessary leave., .The-most exciting', as well as enjoyable,,game was the match against Wellington 'College, when our skipper: made the winning hit, bringing our.score to. 228, this'being one .better: than' the opposing score of 227. Messrs: H;;. M'Girr .and H. "Wilson: headed the batting averages with 35.1 and 30.2 respectively. In : the howling department Mr., Ash-Edwards headed the list,' ; having captured''23 wickets at a. cost of 7.9. runs a pieced V Messrs. 0... Murphy, 25 .wickets 8.6, Scott 24 wickets ,8.85, M'Girr 33 wickets 8.87,. also .contributed .to the'success of; the, team: Mention must also be made of C.Murphy's "hat trick" . against Wellington North—four wickets with four successive balls. The ,third-eJasß. team (playing seven games, winning two and losing five) had l a ■most enjoyable, though not such a successful, sea-son. Mr. Chapman and his .team;are.to be congratulated on' the 'manner in which. they held 'together. :Mr. ,N. Phillips headed: the: batting average;.; scoring 159 • runs, an : average ;of .17.6 ' per, innings, Mr. Corbett ran-' ning. close behind-with- 17/' Mr. E.
