Danes In Rintoul Street. .. An exceedingly enjoyable'dance was fiivpii by Mrs. Captain H. Watson.at hor iesidehco, Rintoul Street, on Tuesday evening. Mrs. Watson received her guests in a very handsome gown of buttercup silk -taffeta,■ trimmed with embroidery and gold bugle fringe, with a diamond tiara in her hair. Tho. ballroom was prettily decorated in gold anil green, with a most charming effect. Tlio .supper room arrangements had' been very picturesquely carried ' out, and when the electric lights were turned on looked most'effective. Tho Young Women's Bible Class, in. connection with St. David's Church, held a "social" last evening, tho procceda.of which/will go towards tho funds for a new class-room. Tho attendance was a fair one, and a brightmusical programme was presented. Mrs. Charles Pharazyn and her children are staying at Day's Bay House. ■ The Art Club is having a Visitors', Night'on Monday evening next, when a very enjoyable ovening's entertainment may be expected. . The Manawatu Savage Club will conclude its season with a; "ladies' night" on Saturday, Soptcmber 17. A peculiar accident is reported to have occurred in aii Ashburtori home. A mother was bending over a child, when a hairpin from her, head fell into the.infant's mouth.
