TRAIN FALLS THROUGH A BRIDGE.
PASSENGERS' LUCKY/ESCAPE. . By Teleerarli-Proce Asßoclatlon-Oopyrißht.' , (Rec September 7, 8.50' p.m.). Melbourne, September 7.; Another sensational railway accident is reported. A short mixed train was crossing, the bridge over M'Kinnon's Crock, . near Coleraine, and the engine was just clear when tho structure collapsed. The strain broke couplings, the engine remaining on the rails, but a passenger car and van falling 30 feet into the gully. Fortunately : the fall was not direct, and the car went down the side of the incline and rolled to the bottom/ . The fifteen passengers ' aboard received numerous cuts and bruises, and are suffering from, shock. It is . reported that none of tho injuries' are serious. . . : (Rec. September 7, 11' p.m.) . , ;' Melbourne, Later. ; The bridge did 'not collapse, but a truck was derailed and dragged tho others over. ' The wagons fell fifteen feet. All tho passengers' injuries are slight. Several trucks were smashed, and the line is badly damaged. ■
