Carroll (Minister for Native Affairs) .with a view :to having, 200,000 acres of Native.lands to. the north of-Napier between Petane ami Pohuimid Wairoa opened for settlement. He has now been informed by Mr. Cal-roll- that asisoou as the session is over the matter, will bo fully gono into, so that tlio landmay be opened up within a reasonable, time. Speaking to a; Dominion reporter vesterday, Mr. Brown ' raciitiohecl. .'that Napier suffered for-the want of fnrther closer, settlement to the. north.-and'.west. The' lands in question ; comprised flrstclass' second-elass, arid third-class..'land.' At present little of it was under cultivation. . ...
