Palmerstbn, August. 29. : ; The inclement weather, which .has prevailed during the past three days rather spoilt the enjoyment of the visit here of . the Wellington ', State schools representative football team. - Ou arrival on Friday night, they were met at the station, and taken to supper (it Mrs. Rawlin's White House restaurant, and afterwards were token to various homes in the town, where they were billeted. On Saturday they defeated the Munawatu boys !by eight points to nil, .Currie and Forth scoring - trios, one of ■ which was converted by Hugh. They were a good deal heavier than the locnllhoys, and , the wet: ground favoured them. .- After.'the' niatch both teams were ontertained at lunch by Mr, and Mrs. T. Childs* of the Commercial Hotel. --Mr. I'. G. Watson, president of the Manawatn School-Foot-ball Association,, presided, and the Mayor, Mr. J. A. Nash, and the president, of the .Manawatu Rugby. Union, were also .present. These three speakers gave short addresses, welcoming the visitors to pnlmerston. In the evening the boys "were : taken to' the picture show, and yesterday special services Tor them and i visiting Napier and New Plymouth High School boys were held i.t St.' AndxewV Church in the morning, ;and at All Saints' Church in the evening.
