NATIONAL PICTURES. The National Pictures still attract" large crowds to the Opera House, where one can both hear and see, at the same timo the great Harry • Lauder, per medium of the chrouq-megaphono and moving pictures respectively. The other moving pictures, which go to make up a splendid programme, depict many beautiful scenes from various lands. The programme will be repeated to-night. ' THEATRE ROYAL. Vaudeville as presented at the: Theatre Royal maintains a firm hold on- the public, and judging by the business wnich has been recurded nnmitly, its popularity must bo set down as on the increase. The change of programme presented last evening was up to the titaudard maintained at the Theatre Royal. The star performer of the first part was certainly l?itz, the bucking lwuy, who, with quaint modesty, forbids anyone to mount him or maintain his seat {'or more than : five seconds. His bucking is a. fine art,'perfected evidently in tlm.best school..YYheti the volunteer jockey throws himself across the sturdy little animal, Fits', projects his hind-quarters with alarming suddenness high in tht air, and at. the same time throws out liis stiffened forelegs and lowers his head between them. The first buck is usually effective. If it only throws the rider on to his neck the action is repeated smartly, and before ho kuuws exactly where lie is the ■ rider is rolling comically on tho Hoor, whilst Fitz smiles cynically, and calmly waits the next attempt. A very good rider stuck to the pony for two cr .three seconds last evening, during which. FiU bucked into the stream on the back'cloth, the Wings/and was so nearly throwing himself into the orchestra Hint the pianist and .violinist hastily quitted their seats, fearing an avalanche of pony. Miss lieattie M'Donaid sung "Climb, Boys, Climb," "That's What Gold Can't Buy," aud another old favourite;-the Gibson Girls obliged with "Peggy, the I'rido of the Mill" and "Over a Cup of Tea." Mr.. Carde.n 'Wilson, the clever '-riiimicy showed his versatility as an actor in a dramatic sketch entitled,"Posted Missing," , which lett too i little for the '.imagination, and was burdened ~with-' conventional lnelodramtic toiicbes.'tliDugh tho basic iuca is'.n. good one. Miss Blanche Carelli's mellow soprano was heard to, advantage in-the "Invitation Love Waltz Song," and revived nil* old-time jodelling ballad as an encore. The-*Rogers .Quartet of juvenile acrobats are wonderfully- smart, and remarkably . clean and graceful in their Work. The clown—the merest dot of humanity—provides capital comedy.- Hurry .Saddler's somewhat broad humour found favour with a large section of the audience. The programme concluded with an, excellent I biograph picture dealing with' an incident in the American Civil War. On Thursday next a gold medal will be presented to the test rider of. Fitz, the pony, and on Friday the amateur will again amuse and instruct. , . '. '"'-. HIS ■ MAJESTY'S THEATRE. "'■ The admirable programme of pictures shown at this popular place of entertain'ment was again liberally patronised last evening, and drew unstinted: applause from the audience, the comic items being particularly; appreciated. ■ , A change of programme is- announced for ; to-morrow, evening. .... •-,- ' ; : THE KING'S THEATRE. : The unfailing popularity of picture dis : plays, continues to be demonstrated iii the .large and appreciative .audiences which flock to the excellent programme produced -each evening at the King's Theatre. .The views shown display excellent taste and varietywand are. adapted to all sections of tho popular taste. The usual change of.. programme takes place to-morrow evening. ! . STAR. PICTURES. ;An attractive change of prosjrammo drew a large audience to. To the', former category btlongs a beautifully-tinted'.portrayal-of the pineapple canning industry at Singapore. The picture was as interesting us it was.beautiful, and evoked merited applause. A fine scenic film is that depict/ ing scenes on the Island of Marken. The quaint fishing craft and buildings, and 'the inhabitants in , their voluminous garb conferred on' the picture a full share of attraction, and it is to be reckoned one of tho ,star .items-on the. programme. "The Wayside. Shrine" presents a -series of misadventures and a pretty cave idyll in an attractive setting. "The, Love "of Lady Irma" is a , powerful dramatic study, and comic selections of merit.are "The Waiter's Dream," "The Laughing Machine," mid "Good Doggie." "Poor Pa Pays Again" is a .'ludicrous item; and provoked uproarious, laughter.. The programme will be: repeated this evening and during the.remainder of the week. ;'-.-''. Although .there was a splendid demand for seats for the . first . four nights o{ "Aladdin,' , which is to be staged.by J. ,C. Williamson, at the Opera - Hoiiso on Friday night next, the booking was'so well' distributed .that there nre plenty of seats in goad positions in both tho dress circle and reserved stalls for each .performance. .Mr. Williamson's army of mechanics, headed by 31r. "James Turner, arrived yesterday, and they.are. already at, work fixing .new trap doors, for tho great demon incantation: scene, arranging preliminaries'-for., the wonderful balloon and the stupendous electrical flag effects.. In.addition to the-mechanical and electrical effects introduced.in "Aladdin," the pantomime, it is stated, simply abounds in brilliant ballets, while the iriise en scene is sufficient in itself to tell tie story of "Aladdin," and the bill of fare is completed with an appropriate musical".sotting. The songs are attuned to catch the humour of the hour, and it is also stated that there are some really fino choruses.. Of. course, - the. musical, numbers in a pantomime .are always a feature,'and in Aladdin" there'are some exceptionally catchy ' and . tuneful songs, amongst .them being the following:— Step This Way," 'The Top Note" (Mr. Harry Phydora), and' "-My Pyjania Girl" (Miss Eva Moore), assisted by tho ballet and chorus; "Meet Me Where the Lanterns Glow," with brilliant electric effects, "Rings oil Her Fingers," and "Dear Motherland," together with the giant electric flag effect (Miss■ MarieVEato'n); "Just -a Love for Someoho" (Miss Nance Maher), sung in the balloon; "Can't Yon See I Love You" (Misses Eva Moore .and- Marie Eaton), "The Shadow of the .
