RECENT,MOVEMENTS IN PRICES. (By Correspondent.) . ; Auckland, August 26. During the past few days there hag been a marked decline in the market price of Waihi shares, and it is interesting, under the circumstances, to compare the present aggregate'value of the shares of the company , with ' the . value of-a few months ago. For 6ome months prior to' March last Waihi shares advanced steadily in :prico- until on February 28 they,reached £10 2s. 6d. From that date onwards, hawever, a gradual decline set in, and, on April '20, a sale was recorded at £9. The shrinkage then became more rapid, until on May 2 a transaction was recorded as; low as £7 14s. Then the pendulum commenced to swing , the other way. On May 4, for instance, a sale was made at £8 65., and on May 24 they again touched £9. The market, price of the shares theu remained well up until June 17, when it again dropped, £7 16s. being reached; A further -recovery. Was then experienced and for several weeks shares wero transferred at £B'and over. On July 23 they .again fell to £7 18s. Gd., only to recover again, a sale as high as £8 7s. being registered on August 2. On Friday last the-latest drop set iu, and nh Wednesday of this week were sold as low as' £7 10s.* the lowest price ever recorded over a period of . some years. This, when'compared with the figures, reached on February 28,' represents a shrinkage of £2 12s. 6d. per share', equal to £1,301,755 17s. 6d. on ' the 495,!)P7 shares issued in tho company: On this price being reached, a strong demand for scrip sot in, and tho final sale made yesterday was.at £7 14s. This, compared with the £7 10s. transaction recorded the previous day, represents a recovery of 4s. per \ shares, oqiial to £99,181 Bs. on the total number of shares issued. A further' drop took place" to-day, shares selling ..at, the 10 a.m. call at £7 10s. to £7 145., and going down at tho .noon call to £7 9s. 6d. and to £7 Bs. at the last sale this afternoon. . -.
